Years ago, this Terrell Heights neighborhood was the African-American commercial, cultural and entertainment hub of Fort Worth. Following a number of years of declining growth in the area, the City of Fort Worth, as well as numerous area stakeholders including Southeast Fort Worth, Inc., the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce and the team from Cypress Equities, determined that this area was primed for redevelopment.

A Jack-in-the-Box restaurant, which celebrated its grand opening in April 2011, kick-started the commercial redevelopment following its acquisition of a parcel of land fronting both Missouri and I-35W. This parcel was also sold by Cypress Equities.

7-Eleven is scheduled to begin construction this month immediately south of Jack-in-the-Box.

7-11 recently expanded its presence throughout North Texas following the acquisition of another convenience store chain.
