Shopping centers sell for $33.25M

Burton Property Group in Mobile has paid $33.25 million for two shopping centers at Airport Boulevard and Schillinger Road: the 140,190-square-foot Westwood Plaza, anchored by Hobby Lobby and Office Max; and the adjacent Schillinger Towne Centre, a 244,024-square-foot center anchored by Walmart SuperCenter, according to Josh Burmeister of SRS Real Estate Partners in Mobile. He represented the buyers, who also own Pinebrook Shopping Center on Airport Boulevard and McGregor Avenue. The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, based in New York, was the seller. Surety Land Title handled the closing. Last May, Burton Property Group sold its ownership shares in Silver Sands Outlet Mall in Destin, Fla., to Simon Property Group.

The bank-owned former Roussos Restaurant at 166 S. Royal St., in downtown Mobile, was purchased for $350,000 by a group of investors from Tuscaloosa, according to Grubb & Ellis/Peebles & Cameron. The vacant, 15,000-square- foot building sits on almost an acre near historic Fort Conde Village.

A five-bedroom, four-bath waterfront home on Ono Island has sold for $975,000, according to Bob Shallow of REMAX Paradise, who represented the seller. The 3,500-square- foot house with a pool and boat dock has more than 100 front feet on Bayou St. John. Betty Bronnenberg of Realty Executives Gulf Coast worked for the buyer.

The Health Hut has leased 1,000 square feet in Jubilee Plaza on U.S. 90 in Daphne, and will open in December, according to Matt Cummings of Cummings & Associates. The health food and vitamin and herb business also has a store on Schillinger Road in west Mobile.

The law firm of Diamond Fuquay plans to relocate to 2,500 square feet at 2607 Dauphin St., in Midtown Mobile, according to Pratt Thomas of Merrill P. Thomas Co.

Fifteen of the 29 residential lots have sold in The Cottages of Romar, which is on 10 acres on Perdido Beach Boulevard in Orange Beach, according to Paul Stewart, one of the developers. The gulf-front lots are priced at $750,000 and the interior lots range from $210,000 to $359,000. The property has 500 front feet on the Gulf.

Site work is under way and construction starts soon on two Publix Supermarkets set to open in Mobile next summer. A public kickoff will be held by developers of the 45,600-square- foot store at Hillwood Plaza Shopping Center on Hillcrest and Cottage Hill roads on Thursday at 10 a.m., according to White-Spunner & Associates. The 57,000-square- foot store near the northeast corner of Airport and University boulevards is being developed by Ladas Development. Ladas bought 14 houses and two commercial lots to form the 7-acre store site.

Li’ve Nails & Spa will open later this fall in 1,176 square feet in Foley Center on Ala. 59 across from Tanger Outlets, according to David Milstead of Milstead & Associates, who represented the landlord.
