Lake Nona can add a fast-growing Southern chain to its lineup of new restaurants.

Auburn, Ala.-based Chicken Salad Chick has signed a lease for a 3,100-square-foot eatery at the Nona Park shopping center in southeast Orlando’s Lake Nona community. The restaurant is on the southwest corner of Narcoossee Road and Dowden Road, and is expected to open in June 2016. It will be the third Central Florida location for the growing chicken salad sandwich chain.

John Artope of SRS Real Estate Partners represented Chicken Salad Chick in the transaction.

“Chicken Salad Chick continues to grow, and we are excited to be working with them on their expansion needs,” said Artope in a prepared statement. “This location has strong demographics and is highly visible, which supports Chicken Salad Chick’s criteria for new sites.”

Chicken Salad Chick opened its first metro Orlando store at the Plaza on University development near the University of Central Florida. At that time, franchisees Adam Reeves and Carol Lynn Upshaw of City Chick LLC said they were eyeing Lake Nona, as well as Winter Park, as previously reported by Orlando Business Journal.

Chicken Salad Chick also opened a second location this fall in Ormond Beach that is owned by Buck and Brooklyn Harris, who plan to open two other locations in Lake Mary and Altamonte Springs.

Maitland-based Equinox Development Properties Inc. is the developer of the Nona Park shopping center. The project included two retail phases, each at 11,000 square feet.
