Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Alabama announce new officers; Rob Moxley named board chairman

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Alabama (BGCCA) recently elected new officers, including a new chairman of the board, according to a news release from the Birmingham-based non-profit.

In addition, three new leadership council members have been added to the governance board of the BGCCA.

The new chairman of the board is D. Robert Moxley, a realtor from Realty South. A native of Birmingham, he has served on the BGCCA board for 33 years.

Moxley replaces Carl E. Crosby, an executive vice president at BBVA Compass Bank in Birmingham, who served as chairman for two years and will remain a member of the board as immediate past chairman.

“(Moxley) has been instrumental in helping to strengthen and move our organization forward, so that we can provide developmental, social and recreational services to more children in the Greater Birmingham area,”  Tom Cleckler, BGCCA president and CEO, said in the release.

The other new BGCCA corporate officers

Chairman-elect – Barbara Finch-Thompson, EBSCO Media (retired);

Vice Chairman – Richard A. Campbell III, principal at VERITAS Medical Real Estate;

Second Vice Chairman – J. Sanford (Sandy) Bean, business consultant at Alagasco;

Secretary – D. Tyler O’Connor, broker at CRC Insurance Services;

Treasurer – John M. (Jack) Boggan, a broker and owner of the J.M. Boggan Company.

The new BGCCA Leadership Council members are Adam Baxter, vice president of SRS Real Estate Partners; Al Blanton, owner of 78 Magazine; and Josh Petty, a senior vice president at BB&T of Greater Birmingham.

The new officers and leadership council members were approved at a meeting of the BGCCA board of directors held in Birmingham on April 5, according to the release.
