A stone's throw from Chastain Park, crews are demolishing outdated apartments to make way for a 21-acre mixed-use development that emphasizes being outdoors. A handful of leases are in the can at the "Sandy Springs Gateway" project on Roswell Road, which hopes to open in the spring of 2015, SRS Real Estate Partners said in a press release. So far, noteworthy future tenants include: Tupelo Honey Café, a longtime Asheville favorite; a restaurant concept from Hil Rogers of Verde Taqueria; Urban Cookhouse from Birmingham; a CVS pharmacy and "a specialty grocer" as the anchor, officials said. In addition to retail, the project will offer more than 600 apartments and office space. Lily H. Heimburger, vice president in the SRS Atlanta office, said the project will be set apart by "expansive patios and first rate apartment living."
