Veggie Heaven to Reopen at 5th Street Commons

Austin, Texas (October 6, 2015) – Veggie Heaven has signed a lease for the final available space in 5th Street Commons, a mixed-use center centrally located in Old West Austin with 41,811 SF of retail space and 138 apartment units. The popular vegetarian restaurant served Austin for 16 years before closing last December so that owner Mei Chen could retire. Chen’s daughter Stacy will run the new 5th Street location that features beer, wine, and a variety of new dishes. 5th Street Commons is also home to other local vendors such as Mean Eyed Cat, Lucky’s Puccias, and Kor180. Veggie Heaven is slated to open in March of 2016.

“We are very excited to welcome this Austin institution to the project,” said Alison Barnwell, senior vice president for SRS Real Estate Partners. “This beloved restaurant will be able to continue to serve their popular vegetarian dishes in an exciting new location.”

Alison Barnwell, of SRS’ Austin office, represented 5th Street Commons in the transaction while Chuck Winkley of Metro Realty represented Veggie Heaven.
