Starbucks to open Saturday at 20 Midtown

The new Starbucks at 20 Midtown will be the first retailer at the downtown location to open at 7 a.m. Saturday.

The new coffee shop – part of the 200,000-square-foot Publix-anchored development – will occupy 1,850 square feet at the corner of 20th Street and 3rd Avenue South, according to a report from AL.com.

RGS Properties is expected to invest more than $100 million in the property

Some of the apartments above Starbucks will be open by the end of October, with 36 total units.

A new Chipotle Mexican Grill location also recently won approval from Birmingham’s Design Review Committee to have outdoor seating at 20 Midtown.

The Publix building, which is slated to open next summer, will have 86 apartments, mostly 1- and 2-bedrooms.

Tammy Cohen of Cohen Carnaggio Reynolds is the architect for the project.

Martin Smith of SRS Real Estate Partners is handling leasing the retail space.
