DALLAS – School of Rock, the original performance-based rock music school in the country for kids, is coming to Southlake, Texas. The school has selected a 7,525-square-foot space located at 3220 Southlake Boulevard to be its third Dallas/Fort Worth location. Amid rapid national expansion, School of Rock is becoming the hip place to teach kids how to rock and plans to open nine more schools in the Metroplex by 2013.
“An important part of our success is location. Southlake, Keller and Colleyville have the right demographic for School of Rock, because of the focus on family, the strong sense of community and the common desire to enrich the lives of their children,” said Dean Tarpley, owner of School of Rock Southlake. “Not every kid fulfills his dreams on the soccer field or in the dance studio. We offer kids a place to cultivate their unique abilities.”
From the classroom to the concert stage, the school continues its ongoing mission of inspiring kids to rock on stage and in life. Built on the philosophy that the best way to learn how to play music is by actually playing, the School of Rock supplements weekly private lessons with group band practice in a highly challenging yet supportive environment. Dedicated to connecting the musicians of tomorrow to the classics of yesterday, students learn to play classic rock ranging from the Beatles and Cream to Zappa and Zeppelin.
Dan Harris an associate with Dallas-based SRS Real Estate Partners represented School of Rock in the transaction. James Keoughan with RE/MAX represented the landlord.
“School of Rock couldn’t have picked a better area to place the Metroplex’s third school,” said Harris. “Over the last 10 years, Southlake’s population has increased by 210% and families make up 97% of the households in area. It’s an ideal area to place a music school that is focused on kids.”
With the new Southlake addition, School of Rock now operates 59 schools in 23 states and has developed an aggressive growth strategy seeking franchise partners throughout the United States. The company intends to develop another 250 schools and increase its network of students to 40,000 kids over the next five years.
School of Rock Southlake is the third location for Tarpley, who also owns schools in Dallas and Frisco and holds the franchise rights to both the Dallas/Fort Worth and Detroit metro areas.
