Scarcity of Quality Retail Space in Central Florida Fuels Rent Gains

Central Florida’s retail market isn’t slowing down, but finding quality space is becoming a real challenge.

In a recent CoStar News feature, Jason Kaiser, Senior Vice President and Co-Market Leader for SRS Real Estate Partners in Orlando, shared insight on rent growth and development across Central Florida, and how they’re being affected by lack of supply.

“Limited new construction and surging demand are changing where retail growth is happening across Central Florida,” Kaiser said. “We are seeing more new development in emerging suburban areas orbiting Orlando.”

Despite construction activity increasing by 25% year-over-year, nearly 70% of new space is already pre-leased — a testament to Central Florida’s retail strength.
