Office tenants to take space in 20 Midtown development

As vertical construction continues on the Phase I of downtown’s 20 Midtown mixed-use project, some of the development’s tenancy mix is coming into focus.

Publix and Starbucks committed early to the project at 20th Street South and Third Avenue, which will also include 122 apartment units in the first phase.

Last week, it was announced that Chipotle Mexican Grill will occupy 2,400 square feet in the first building, along with Starbucks.

According to RGS Properties’ Dick Schmalz, the inaugural building will also include the offices of SRS Real Estate Partners, the company currently in charge of leasing the retail portion of the project, and the apartment business center, for the development’s tenants and the general public.

RGS Properties will also move its office into the building.

“It will be a place where people can rent offices by the hour or by the day or they can rent conference rooms by the hour or by the day,” Schmalz said. Birmingham’s

Systematic Services will also take space in, and manage, the business center. Schmalz said leasing for the apartments in the first building will begin on July 1st .

Starbucks is trying to open by the end of July, and Chipotle will be open by year end. The Publix construction will continue with an expected opening by Fall, 2016.
