SRS’ Jason Kaiser cites importance of experiential concepts in retail centers
A new-to-market fitness concept with locations across four other states has planted its flag in south Orlando, near the Florida Mall.
Boston-based Central Rock Gym, a chain of fitness centers with indoor rock climbing, yoga and traditional fitness offerings, will open soon in a big-box retail space at 1766 W. Sand Lake Road in the recently sold Orlando Square shopping center.
Jason Kaiser, a senior vice president and principal for the Orlando office of SRS Real Estate Partners who is not involved with the leasing, told OBJ these types of concepts help retail centers by giving families activities to do together.
“We’re seeing [retail space] get backfilled by fitness and sports groups,” Kaiser said. “It’s a different experience for consumers and a different experience for the shopping center. What you’re trying to do is get foot traffic into the shopping centers.”
