Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions has confirmed plans to develop a $54 million mixed-use housing and retail development on the campus of The University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson, TX.
Teaming up with Dallas-based residential and commercial developer Wynne/Jackson, Balfour will design, build, finance and operate the project, which is set to feature mid-rise apartments and townhomes housing approximately 600 beds, in addition to retail, restaurants and entertainment available to the 30,000 students as well as faculty, staff and professionals in the area.
“Northside at UT Dallas is essential to support the tremendous growth our campus has experienced. Over the past seven years, our enrollment has increased from 14,500 to more than 23,000 students,” said Dr. Calvin D. Jamison, vice president for administration at UT Dallas. “This is the natural next phase of enhancing the University experience for our campus community.”
Construction on the new project is slated to begin in the next few weeks on a 13-acre site located near the Synergy Park Blvd. and Floyd Rd. intersection, and next to a planned DART rail station. It is projected to deliver August 2016, just before the start of the 2016/2017 school year. Following its delivery, Balfour Beatty Communities and SRS Real Estate Partners will handle leasing of the retail space.
