Publix Super Markets Inc. continued its Central Florida buying spree, this time bagging a retail complex it anchors in east Orlando for $14.6 million.
The Lakeland-based grocery chain's related PSM Corner Lakes Plaza LLC paid about $132 per square foot for Corner Lakes Plaza, a 110,527-square-foot shopping center at 16861 E. Colonial Drive, at the corner of Chuluota Road. The seller was Windermere-based Miller Group Development Corp., and the sale closed on Oct. 20, Orange County records showed.
Along with Publix, the center also has a Tractor Supply Co. and a Twisty Treat shop, as well as two separately owned outparcels with a Circle K/BP fuel station and a newly debuted Zaxby's restaurant. Kyle Stonis and Pierce Mayson of SRS Real Estate Partners in Atlanta represented the seller in this deal.
Publix, a top grocery chain not only in Central Florida but nationwide, earlier this month bought four local shopping centers it anchors, including ones in Winter Park, Clermont, Maitland and the Lee Vista area in east Orlando, as previously reported by Orlando Business Journal. A Publix spokesman said the chain is always evaluating opportunities that would suit its portfolio.
