Boston Market, the fast-casual restaurant chain known for its rotisserie chicken and comfort food sides, appears to have pulled out of the greater Orlando market completely.
Beyond litigation, the apparent withdrawal from the concept from the market stands to create opportunity for restaurant concepts that would like to fill those now-vacant spaces, as well as for real estate players who may want to redevelop or reposition some of the properties.
That’s because most of the sites the chain leaves behind are well located, said real estate expert Jason Kaiser, a senior vice president and principal for Dallas-based SRS Real Estate Partners’ Orlando office who is not involved with Boston Market.
“Boston Market entered the market so long ago that most of their locations are really good real estate,” Kaiser said, further noting that most of them are freestanding stores. “A couple are challenging, but someone will figure those out, too.”
Second-generation restaurant space is especially valuable in the market, with Kaiser noting the closed location at 4201 E. Colonial Drive, near Orlando Fashion Square is already a Fazoli’s restaurant. “They took down that one pretty fast.”
