Looking for someone to take care of your lawn? There’s an app for that.

GreenPal made its debut recently in Anaheim, Irvine, Long Beach, Riverside, San Bernardino and the city of Los Angeles, giving homeowners a new way way to match up with local lawn-care workers who have been pre-screened for their professional skills, according to a company statement.

The app, developed by a Nashville-based company, is also being offered in San Diego, Sacramento and about two-dozen other major markets across the U.S.

Gene Caballero, a co-founder of GreenPal, calls it “Uber for lawn care.” Property owners can list their lawn needs with preferred service dates, and vetted gardeners can bid on the work using computerized maps, aerial images and details provided by the homeowner.

Once the vendor has completed the tasks, a time-stamped photograph of the completed work will be sent to the homeowner, who can then pay using the app and, if desired, set up appointments for more work.

In a press release, Caballero claimed that 500,000 homeowners have signed up and are using the service, and more than 6,000 landscaping professionals are getting business through GreenPal.
