RKF arranged a 7,300 s/f flagship lease with Sleep Number, for its first Manhattan store, at 136 Fifth Avenue.

The experience-oriented mattress boutique opened last week.

As exclusive agent, RKF Vice Chairman Ariel Schuster and Senior Director Ike Bibi arranged the transaction on behalf of ownership Zamel Properties, Inc., working with Andrew Zamel. Sleep Number was represented by Sarah Hughes Cafaro of SRS Real Estate Partners.

Situated between West 18th and 19th Streets, Sleep Number is positioned in one of the Flatiron District’s few standalone retail spaces. The smart-mattress brand occupies 3,650 s/f on the ground floor and 3,650 s/fin the lower level.

“The Flatiron District has established itself as one of the city’s strongest retail corridors, especially as it relates both to health and wellness and home furnishings,” explained Bibi.

“The Flatiron District is the go-to destination for innovative retail concepts wishing to attract younger, engaged and wellness-focused consumers, making this the perfect location for Sleep Number to plant its flag in New York City.”

Sleep Number is surrounded by retailers including Bonobos, Victoria’s Secret, Express, H&M, Banana Republic, Athleta, Zara, J.Crew, Anthropologie, Gap, Nike Running, lululemon, and Club Monaco. It is also located near ABC Carpet & Home, and Design Within Reach.
