The Meat House — a neighborhood butcher shop offering premium meats, deli items, fresh produce and prepared meals— is opening its first Texas store in Austin later this spring, according to SRS Real Estate Partners, which worked on the deal.

The new 3,200-square-foot store is located at 3267 Bee Caves Road in the West Woods Shopping Center in southwest Austin. Existing tenants include Petco, Stein Mart, and CVS Pharmacy. SRS Real Estate associates Austin McWilliams and Mike Minicucci represented the retailer in the transaction and Lucas Patterson with Lincoln Property Co. represented the West Woods Shopping Center.

The Meat House, founded in New Hampshire, currently has stores in seven states, including Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina and California. Two more are opening soon in Charlotte, N.C., and another in Arlington, Mass.

The Meat House became a franchise with the goal of its stores being 80 percent franchisees and 20 percent corporate-owned.

It’s unclear how many more stores will open up in the Central Texas region, but there are likely more on the way as the Meat House does not sell single-unit franchises. Instead, the company offers area development agreements that require the franchise developer to open a minimum number of locations, typically four to eight in a period of four years. The cost of setting one up is between $498,800 to $705,300, company officials said.
