Biggerstaff Brewing Company Taps Ryan Smith of Staplehouse at 521 Edgewood Avenue

ATLANTA (June 25, 2019) – Asana Partners (Asana) along with SRS Real Estate Partners are thrilled to welcome Clay and Sarah Davies, along with Chef Ryan Smith of Staplehouse, to 521 Edgewood Avenue. The distinctive concept, Biggerstaff Brewing Company (Biggerstaff), will consist of 5,800 square feet and will bring additional activity to the already thriving Edgewood corridor early next year.

Longtime residents of the area, the Davies family, have been brewing for over a decade. They have perfected their recipes and are excited to share them with the neighborhood at Biggerstaff. John Roberts, a partner in Brewed to Serve Restaurant Group, Inc., which is behind Max Lager’s Wood-Fired Grill & Brewery and The Bold Monk, is acting as the brewery consultant for the project.

For the menu selections, the Davies tapped James-beard nominated Chef Ryan Smith, the chef and founder of Staplehouse, which operates directly next door. “We’re ecstatic to have Chef Ryan Smith bring his craft and vision to our menu,” Clay Davies said of the partnership. “He has done an amazing job with Staplehouse. We can’t wait for our customers to experience our craft beers with his award-winning food.”

The menu will feature house-made charcuterie, inventive small plates, sandwiches, salads, and snacks, all of which will be designed to pair with the beers. Biggerstaff will focus on balanced IPAs, but their lineup will also feature sours, coffee beers, and other unique offerings, such as a smoked pale ale. In addition, Biggerstaff plans to open in the mornings to serve Intelligentsia direct trade coffee and espresso along with locally-made pastries. Cole Davies will be heading up the coffee program and has over 10 years of experience in local shops such as Octane, Spiller Park, and Steady Hand Pourhouse.

Located within a mile of downtown Atlanta, the Edgewood Avenue retail corridor features historic buildings and an assorted mix of food and beverage concepts. In addition to 521 Edgewood, Asana Partners also owns 476 Edgewood Avenue which is home to Atlanta favorite, Edgewood Pizza. Edgewood Pizza will be expanding into the adjacent space and will open Handlebar, a neighborhood watering hole, which is scheduled to open later this year. Asana Partners recently closed on 560 Edgewood Avenue, a two-story 50,000 square foot building of retail and loft office space. SRS is currently marketing the building to entertainment and restaurant concepts.

Adrienne Crawford, senior vice president, and Lily H. Heimburger, senior vice president, with SRS Real Estate Partners represent the landlord, Asana Partners. Chris Dundon, associate director, with Newmark Knight Frank represented the tenant.
