7 things to know today and Snapchat brings AR to Disney, Universal

This summer, Snapchatters can add an augmented-reality layer to their theme-park vacations.

Snapchat has developed AR lenses for Disney, Universal and Six Flags parks, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

At Disneyland, Walt Disney World and other destinations in The Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) portfolio, Snapchatters will get access to Mickey and Minnie selfie lenses.

At Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort, which are a part of Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA), they’ll be able to watch Minions frolic in the parks.

SRS Real Estate Partners' Orlando office brokered the purchase of Tyson’s Corner at Lake Nona at the northeast corner of Narcoossee Road and Tyson Road for $9 million. The proposed project at Tyson’s Corner includes six parcels on 9.69 acres. Lake Nona Holdings LLC was the seller, and Epic Development is the buyer.

Orlando airport adds new flights to Central America

Avianca Holdings S.A., the Bogota, Colombia-based owner of Avianca Airlines, will begin nonstop service to Guatemala City, Guatemala, and San Salvador, El Salvador. The two new flights will begin on Aug. 1 and Aug. 2, respectively. More here.
Wholesale grocery firm to lay off 328 workers in Orlando

C&S Wholesale Services Inc., also known as C&S Wholesale Grocers, notified the state that it plans to lay off 328 workers in Orlando between Aug. 27-Sept. 10. The wholesale firm also plans to permanently close its entire warehouse location at 4401 Seaboard Road in Orlando.

Amazon extends 2018 Prime Day to 36 hours

This year’s Amazon.com Inc. Prime Day will be a 36-hour sales event and will extend to shopping at Whole Foods. Prime Day will start on July 16 at 12 p.m. Pacific time and will run through July 17, the company announced Tuesday. More here.
